Fabulous weekend

Hi all, just back from a fantastic weekend in Harbour cottage. A stunning location, overlooking the harbour and beach. This is a great little cottage, this was my second stay here and it just keeps getting better. Ample accommodation for eight of use adults and a great brand new barbecue. All amenities in great working order. I can totally recommend this cottage to everyone.

Fabulous cottage in an ideal location

We arrived on a cold Saturday night and the first look at Harbour cottage warmed us up.

The house is beautiful, but not fussy.

The site is as good as it gets.

Morgan's shop, and Annora Bar are the friendliest of places.

I really hope to be back at Harbour Cottage soon.

Wonderful holiday

Our family had a fantastic holiday here - you could not beat this cottage for its location and comfort. The conservatories were very cosy, the woodburning logfire was great at warming us up. Plenty of comfy seats for our family of 6 and beds were comfy (bunk beds rocked a bit too much for our liking!).

Absoloutely wonderful cottage - couldn't fault it - all the facilities you need, being able to watch the coming and goings on the pier was brilliant. We pier jumped, bodyboarded on the main beach, snorkelled, walked, pitch and putted and enjoyed the local towns. We could not ask for a better holiday or location!

A little piece of Heaven in Donegal!

Quite possibly the most stunning location to stay in Donegal! Portnoo/Narin is a family favourite and now Harbour Cottage is our favourite place to stay! Comfortable, well equipped and with a breathtaking view both day and night. Rain or shine the experience of staying in this welcoming peaceful haven will not quickly be forgotten.

Perfect location, family friendly, stunning views.

The location is second to none. From the garden you can walk down some steps to a beach and the harbour wall. The large lounge windows maximise the stunning views of the island, the sea and the beach at Narin. You might even be lucky enough to have a visit from the dolphins, watch them from the lounge, the beach below or the harbour wall. When the tide is out you can walk to the island, taking a step back in time. The cottage is spacious and tastefully decorated whilst still maintaining a comfortable charm. The large garden is private and there is plenty of parking. The local shop stocks everything you need for your stay. There is a cafe and restaurant a short walk away, and a number of eating places, supermarket and pubs within a short drive. It is truly a piece of heaven on earth, and we will definitely visit again.

A cottage to fall in love with!

We've just returned from our 3rd stay in Harbour Cottage. We all just love it. It is our little bit of Heaven on Earth. Harbour Cottage has everything we need to make our holiday perfect. We can have morning coffee in the garden while watching the children play on the rocks or beach. The cottage itself has such timeless style and is very comfortable and spacious which suits our big family party. We never leave while we are there as it accommodates us all so well. Thanks for a fabulous holiday! Also the new shower room is gorgeous!

A glimpse of heaven!

Donegal is a beautiful, unspoilt part of Ireland. The scenery and beaches are spectacular. We went as a family with young children and Harbour Cottage was perfect. It had everything you needed and an excellent shop close by. The easy access to the beach was really appreciated by the children. Although the weather was relatively dull, the cottage was incredibly light and airy. We can't wait to go back!

Stunning Donegal Coastline

Had the pleasure in staying in Harbour Cottage at Portnoo Pier with my wife & son for 4 nights and have to say we enjoyed every second of it.

The cottage is excellent, has all the luxuries needed and has the most spectacular views. Highly recommend anyone to stay here it's just bliss.

Sheer Bliss

A lovely, comfortable cottage, well equipped with a great local shop, Morgan's, that sells everything you need. The games cupboard and table tennis kept the kids occupied when they weren't out kayaking and the grown ups could sit and read in peace or have a cheeky Prosecco on the lawn in the glorious sunshine (a rarity in Donegal). We'll be back!

Hard to beat!

Just back from a fantastic long weekend in Harbour Cottage. The location is perfect with amazing views and within easy reach of anything you could possibly want. The house is extremely comfortable and well maintained. Morgans kept us well stocked and we had fantastic meals in both Carnaween House and Annora's. Harbour Cottage is the place to stay in Portnoo!

Priceless

We had a wonderfull week at Harbour Cottage. The location is perfect - right by the water - with views across to Inniskeel and Gweebarra Bay and the mountains beyond. The house is warm and well-equipped (Morgan's, less than a minute away, has all the food and papers you might need) and there's a terrific restaurant at nearby Carnaween House should you tire of self-catering. Regardless of time of year, Harbour Cottage makes for a priceless holiday.

Perfect house, perfect location, perfect weekend!

This house is perfect in every way. It is situated on the beach and it is huge! We were a little worried as sometimes you cannot rely on the weather in Ireland, however we didn't need to be as we had everything we could have needed plus more! We had enough dinnerware to feed a family of 50, there were spare towels in the hotpress, we had a table tennis table that was great fun, dvds, dvd player, a bbq, a beautiful stove that heated the living room in minutes and numerous water sports equipment. The house is so spacious (you can play table tennis in it) yet so homey and has the quirky beach theme. The location of the house is unbelievable, I have never stayed on a house that is right on the beach. Even though the weather wasn't sunny we still got in for a swim and went down to the rockpools. I always thought holidays required going away on a plane to a hot country, however I have now realised that a perfect holiday is in Portnoo at the Harbour Cottage. I will definitely be returning every year! It is great for all ages which is an extra bonus!

We've just returned from a fabulous week in harbour cottage Portnoo. This holiday was perfection for us all. The location of the cottage is ideal for families with children of all ages as the small beach is on your doorstep and scenery to die for! We were a 3 family group, children ages ranging from 6 to 17yrs and this cottage suited us all. Our 3 6yr olds thought it was their own private beach! The cottage is big and spacious. The ping pong table was amazing. And on a rainy day the view inspired the artists in us to paint at the big table. The kitchen has everything you need to make culinary feasts every night, washing machine, tumble dryer, dishwasher and even a wine/beer fridge to top it off. I loved the beach house feel and decor. The beds and bedding were plump and cosy. There is even a small sunroom at the back if you want 5 minutes peace. The kids found a games cupboard stocked with games, books an array of things for quiet time. This house certainly met all our expectations and more. We've already booked for next yr.

Family Reunion in Portnoo - a cottage with mind blowing views!

This was the most amazing vacation get away accommodation!!! I remembered this cottage when I was a young boy vacationing here with my family. As I had not been home in a number of ears I thought that this would be the perfect location for a family reunion. The cottage is perfectly located in the most idyllic harbour and also sleeps many!! The beach is beautiful and sandy with rock pools all perfectly located at the bottom of the steps for the kids and anyone keen enough for a dip.

But the views from the sun room are to die for!! Constantly changing before your very eyes!

We spent the days going for walks down to Narin or around to Rosbeg. But the house is fully kitted with games and table tennis to keep everyone occupied when the occasional shower passes through.

Great bar down at Narin or not a a very long drive into Ardara to find Nancy's and some live Irish music.

Morgans at the top of the road has not changed at all. Best general store covering fresh gorgeous foods to post office!!

Cant say enough about this place!!

Excellent cottage, location and friendly people.

We spent a week here with 3 generations of family. The cottage was perfect for us and location being right on the beach was amazing. Great fun was had by the adults jumping off the pier at high tide while the youngsters could search the rock pools and build sandcastles. There were good walks around the headland and to the massive beach 10 mins walk away. The cottage was equipped to a very high standard both with bedding and in the kitchen. The table tennis table was a real bonus as were the board games and books for adults and children. Altogether there was nothing more needed to have a great holiday and we would have no problem recommending this to anyone.

Incredible location and a beautiful house, the perfect holiday stay.

As we drove into Portnoo for the first time we couldn't believe our luck at the location we had chosen. Incredible scenery combined with a sense of true escapism had us hotly anticipating our cottage for the next week. We were not disappointed in fact things got even better! The cottage sits right on the edge of Portnoo harbour and whilst we were aware of this when we booked we were still unprepared for having a beach and pier as our back garden. The accommodation itself was fantastic with large kitchen and living area that provided an eye on the world around us. The sleeping quarters were all well sized and all modern amenities (including ping-pong table!) were provided.

There were two groups of us in the cottage me, my wife and young son and my wife's cousin, partner and 3 children. During the poor weather we spent time inside playing games, reading and relaxing and even though there was a television and dvd player we rarely used them. On the better days we embarked on walks/hikes, visited nearby villages and even swam with a pod of dolphins that had decided to pay a visit to the local area!!!

Portnoo supplied all the provisions we required. There is a good-sized shop about 2-3 minutes walk from the cottage, which provided fantastic meat, fish and general household products at very reasonable prices. In the village itself there was a bar and a number of cafe's/restaurants all of which did not disappoint. There was also the golf course which was a bit pricey but which provides a good challenge if you are a golfing fanatic like I am!

I could go on into the tiniest of detail but it is perhaps best to paint this picture with the broadest of brushstrokes - If you have a image of the perfect Irish beach cottage based family holiday then this is probably it - you won't be disappointed.

A great family holiday location

After previously staying in many rented properties and having visited Portnoo as a child and now after visiting with my family, there is no doubt that Harbour Cottage is the best! The cottage has a fantastic location with the beach and rock pools for the kids literally right on the doorstep.

With the nearby golf course and at the end of Narin beach great waves for surfing / body boarding there is lots of fun for older children and adults.

There are great views of Narin Strand, Inniskeel Island and Aranmore all surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean. If we were not on the beach the kids had great fun playing badminton or swing ball in the walled garden. The large patio area overlooking the Harbour played host to the odd BBQ and glass of wine or two whilst we watched the swimmers jump off the harbour wall...great fun!

The cottage comfortably housed our extended family of 11. We found the kitchen very well equipped and the kids and adults had great fun playing many a match of table-tennis in the games room. The local shop at the top of the hill was really well stocked and we also enjoyed eating out in the cafe and restaurant in Narin and we would recommend both. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful location.......the wild and windy west!

Large and practical cottage with an unbeatable location by Portnoo harbour. Great open vistas and perfect for walking and cycling. Super shop close by, and the wood burner kept all warm as the storms blew in. Kids (and adults) enjoyed the table tennis - and we even managed a few autumn swims, so glad it wasn't far back to the warmth! Great escape.

Location location location.....

Fantastic location for Donegal stay. Have stayed in nearby Glencolmcille which was good but this place makes you feel like you own a private beach and harbour. This house has to have some of the best views in Donegal, you feel like you're part of the landscape while sitting in the lounge, must be lovely in Winter. The house has loads of space for about 10 and has all mod cons. Morgans shop just above on main road offers all the basics but also stocks Deli items and a good wine selection, very friendly. As a golfer a short drive (in the car) gets you to one of the best Links Golf courses on the Island of Ireland in my opinion, very Portrush/Castlerock. A short walk down the road takes you to a huge expanse of shallow beach, suited all our lot 10,13,16. Great wetsuited fun. All we wanted from a Donegal stay right on the doorstep of the Harbour Cottage.
